The Stowarzyszenie Minecraft Wiki Polska Association (REGON No: 540656120), fulfilling the objectives of the activities referred to in Sections 5-6 of ยง12 and 11, as well as 12 of its Terms and Conditions, as of 18 January 2025, publishes this Statement concerning Block & Quill Ltd. Just over a week ago, on January 10, 2025, Minecraft Wiki was officially transferred to a new platform, available at the website minewiki.pl. As the first and so far the only language language of Minecraft Wiki, it has not joined the network managed by Block & Quill Ltd and hosted by Weird Gloop Ltd and Weird Gloop USA Inc. However, this does not mean that Minecraft Wiki does not want to be part of the international Minecraft Wiki project. Unfortunately, contrary to deceptive assurances, Block & Quill Ltd decided to prevent other languages of Minecraft Wiki from creating interlingual links to Minecraft Wiki Polska (the so-called interwiki prefixes). Block & Quill Ltd has also assured us, for the past months, that in addition to language references, Minecraft Wiki will also receive a redirection from the domain pl.minecraft.wiki. After providing information that we intend to move to our own platform at the turn of 2024 and 2025, contact with Block & Quill Ltd became difficult, and on December 29, 2024, we were informed that Block & Quill Ltd was breaking the agreement and did not intend to establish relations with Minecraft Wiki. This was argued by trivial reasons, such as the alleged uncertainty of Block & Quill Ltd about our ability to use the name of the Stowarzyszenie Minecraft Wiki Polska, due to the reference to Minecraft. However, these issues were not real obstacles, because if necessary, the association could change its name, as we suggested. Regardless, we believe that the name of the association meets the rules of the permitted use of the Minecraft trademark. Thus, it would seem that Block & Quill Ltd only created a pretext to end cooperation with Minecraft Wiki. In addition, they were pushing that we do not enter legal proceedings with the entity that until now was providing hosting for Minecraft Wiki, as well as for other Minecraft Wiki languages, currently managed by Block & Quill Ltd. However, we would like to point out that this issue was only in the planning phase, and if the failure to act would be a requirement for establishing partnerships with Block & Quill Ltd, the Stowarzyszenie Minecraft Wiki Polska would agree to it. Due to the described circumstances, we decided no longer to delay and migrate as soon as possible. Thus, the Minecraft Wiki Polska has been operating since 10 January 2025 on its own platform called minewiki.pl. A few hours after the announcement of the migration, there was a situation aimed at preventing Minecraft Wiki from effectively reaching the recipients with information about the transfer to the new platform. This was later explained by alleged concerns about violating the privacy of Minecraft Wiki visitors, due to the use of a script from outside the server of the existing hosting provider. However, it must be noted here that the script was included with the consent of the same provider and after prior verification, and its use did not serve any prohibited purposes, but only allowed to adjust the content of the message on the basis of basic data about the language used and allowed the collection of anonymized statistical data. It is also worth mentioning that this data was processed in accordance with the privacy policy accepted by users, the Wikis managed by Block & Quill Ltd lack, by not providing regionally translated data processing rules, which might cause Block & Quill Ltd to violate the provisions of the GDPR. As a result of the activities of Block & Quill Ltd, Minecraft Wiki has lost the ability to inform readers of articles on the old Wiki, about the corresponding address of the new Wiki, and has also ceased to have current information about the number of people visiting the old Wiki. At the same time, there were unreasonable claims from Block & Quill Ltd, about alleged violations of the law by the Minecraft Wiki Association. At this point, we must mention that the further spread of information by Block & Quill Ltd that does not have corresponding evidence, violating the good name of Minecraft Wiki, will be met with a firm reaction from our part. In addition, the next day, January 11, 2025, our appointed representative was removed from the role of Interwiki Representative before Block & Quill Ltd, thus preventing the current activity in multinational variants of the Wiki and the implementation of the purpose of the Stowarzyszenie's activities referred to in point 7 of section 12 of the association's Terms. Due to the above situation, the Stowarzyszenie Minecraft Wiki Polska has broken its relations with Block & Quill Ltd. However, due to the welfare and convenience of Minecraft Wiki users, we leave language references to articles in other language versions, including those constituting Wikis managed by Block & Quill Ltd. Taking care of the welfare of users of other local Wikis, we would expect a joint agreement on language references to Minecraft Wiki. Finally, we want to announce that we are still part of the international Minecraft Wiki community. However, we are not part of Block & Quill Ltd. We believe that every local Wiki has the right to self-determination, which is not excluded in any way with the creation of a community. At the same time, contrary to the narratives led by Block & Quill Ltd, self-reserving and language management of Wiki is neither expensive nor very complicated. If any Wiki would be interested in considering following our way, we will be happy to provide all support so that your path is easier than ours.
